I should have seen that ending coming with Phil's description. You did a great job making the world feel lived-in through the believable workers' personalities. I also like the explanation of white filing boxes - I've got one in my office right now, packed with cables, an old keyboard, and not a single file... Awesome story.

Thank you, I'm glad you found it immersive and compelling. I used to have a bunch of those boxes, too, both when I still lived with my family and after my wife and I moved in together. Boxes with cables and old surge strips, Christmas lights, old figurines and statues and other shelf and tabletop antiques, books, etc. We've since upgraded to plastic totes šŸ˜‚

David and David, a match made in heaven! How did you write something compelling so quickly?

Drew on lots of real world experience. The advantage of the core story being about painters and working in a real life paint shop means lots of easy detail to draw from ;)

I love to see these stories building on each other! This was a lovely read, and I agree very much with some of the earlier comments about how believable it was!

Great characterization! David is very believable, and I didnā€™t see the ending until it smacked me in the face!
