Very good article, I appreciate your thoughts. Unlike a lot of similar articles, you offer a solution: go out and make a thing. If you can't make a thing, promote things from small creators that you enjoyed. I like this plan of action because it's not only very doable, it's how the world used to work before mass media came along.

Thank you very much. This sort of article is likely to be a rare occurrence from me, but one thing I decided quite some time ago was that anytime I do write something like this, I want to strive to do more than just point out the problems and complain about them. If I can provide suggestions for simple solutions that are effective and, in so doing, end an article like this on a positive note, then I'm going to try my best to do exactly that.

Well written and throughtful - self- mutilation is the proper term, and parallels universal trends...

Appreciate the read. Opinion pieces aren't my usual thing, as a quick glance at my page will attest, so I'm glad to see my points came across well.

And I must return that salute in kind, and accompanied with a full throated, "Hear, hear!"

Also, just for the sake of making my own stance clear, I'm in full agreement with you that this shift has been driven by intent. What the reasons behind that intent are I leave that for other people to decide based on their observations, but there is no doubt in my mind that these changes came about due to a desire from those driving them to usurp and undermine not just these individual hobbies and forms of media, but the social fabric. The methods we see on display fly too close to those used by various Communist and Socialist regimes to be coincidence. The only difference is the veil they draw over said methods, frequently leaning into claims revolving around race and sex as opposed to the class based attacks used in the past. As far as I'm concerned, at this point those who think this sort of thing couldn't or isn't happening in the first world are either woefully ignorant, decieving themselves, or party to the decay.
