Wow dang, this is a great overview. It makes me want to play Shadowbringers again, except ... you know, Vauthry is just so disgusting. I hadn't made the connection that he represents every Deadly Sin, but he sure does, doesn't he? Of all the villains I was happy to kill in that entire game, Vauthry was probably top of the list. I don't think I took such savage pleasure in Endwalker's boss as I did fighting Vauthry into the ground. Even fighting Emet Selch kind of took backseat to ... well ... if you could take one more step, would you do it? You know the part I mean.

I definitely agree with that. Vauthry is presented as so wholly vile throughout that beating him does feel immensely satisfying. The fact his fight mechanics are pretty fun helps that, too. Yet those little, well-timed reveals at his end manage to give just enough context as to why he turned out so foul that even though you absolutely despise him for what he's done, the tragedy of the circumstances that resulted in him still manages to have a notable impact. Just another reason why Shadowbringers is still considered the peak for story writing in the game.

It's really true. His little Echo cutscene at the end, about where he came from and how he got that way, was really the tragic legacy of his parents. But still, that moment when he attacks that town in Lakeland and poor Lyna gets tore up? I had mildly disliked him before, but that moment cemented his fate. Ohhhhh he was going down so hard.

I was sold on it when he commanded Kai-Shirr to carve a literal pound of his own flesh off his arm. The complete non-reaction to his toddler's tantrum immediately raised red flags in my mind that something major was up with him. His attempts to use mind controlling magic on the Exarch and Ranjit beating the tar out of Lyna further solidified my suspicions of Eulmore as a place that's beautiful on the surface, and immensely wicked underneath. Just happened to be we saw a major source of that wickedness early on.

Goodness, yes. You can tell the place is a dystopia by looking at it it. But it was the revelation about the meol that was like ... I WILL BURN THIS PLACE TO THE GROUND WITH PURIFYING FIRE. However, I really loved the storyline with the people learning to cope afterward, and even rebuild. The Shadowbringers patch content was better than Shadowbringers, I thought.
